Why Challoch ?

Challoch is a place name associated with South West Scotland primarily. It is from the Gaelic teallach, meaning a hearth and specifically a smith’s forge. The hearth in the domestic dwelling has always been the vital part of the home, providing warmth, energy for cooking and a place to gather. Even today, the hearth, be it an open fire, wood-burning stove or even the oven in the kitchen holds a magnetic attraction for people. Also, before the twentieth century the blacksmith was an important element of both the rural and industrial communities. So much so that for every farms or so there was one blacksmith.

Challoch Energy’s business that updates this term to look at modern energy systems for single family houses all the way to industrial complexes. Clean low carbon energy has its place in all of these places.
